COVID-19 Clinic Safety Plan

After 3-months of being closed, we are SO happy to return to Meridian Spine + Sport and start seeing our valued patients again!  We are transitioning to a new ‘normal’ with regard to every day life and procedures around the clinic. This is necessary to show commitment to the safety of our patients, their families and all our staff at Meridian.

The following changes will now be implemented starting June 1, 2020.

Patient Screening

We are asking patients to help us maintain a healthy and safe environment in our clinic by answering a series of COVID-19 screening questions truthfully and to follow new procedures in the clinic where required.

The screening questions will be asked:

1) when you schedule your appointment over the phone,

2) when you receive your email appointment reminder and,

3) again in person upon your arrival to the clinic.

While we know this can seem repetitive, it is mandated by the Ministry of Health and is done entirely to ensure we reduce the risk for everyone.  Also, patients are asked to attend their appointments alone as much as possible.  If you do require someone to accompany you for a specific reason, the screening questions will also apply to those that accompany you such as parents, caregivers, etc.

What Happens On Your Appointment Day

  1. Please use the washroom facilities at home before attending the clinic.

  2. Please arrive as close to your appointment time as possible.

  3. If you are early, you may wait in your car, outside, in the corridor or in one of the designated waiting areas in the clinic.  Clinic chairs have been significantly reduced and are set up for social distancing measures.

  4. Please bring your own mask to wear at the clinic but do not wear gloves.  If you forget your mask, we can provide one.

  5. As soon as you enter the clinic, you will see a hand sanitizing station and a sign showing the 6 screening questions.  Please clean your hands with the sanitizer.

  6. You will be verbally asked by the front desk to affirm the screening questions.

  7. Once screened, you will be directed by our front desk staff to your treatment room or to a designated waiting area if necessary.

  8. Upon completion of your appointment, sanitize your hands and please return to the front desk to pay for your treatment session, purchase any products, and schedule your next appointment.

  9. There will be visible physical distancing floor markers to indicate where you should stand if multiple patrons are checking-in or out at the front desk. We ask you to fill one of the empty floor markers if required to wait.

  10. We no longer accept cash or cheques and strongly recommend a contactless payment method with your VISA, MasterCard, Debit Card or even electronic bank transfer.

  11. Your receipts will now be emailed when possible.

COVID-19 Clinic Safety Measures

At Meridian Spine + Sport, we want to reassure all patients that our clinic is a safe environment for all to attend. All of our new policies and procedures are based on guidelines developed by all of our Regulatory Associations, Public Health, and Chief Medical Officer to make your safety our number one priority.

Patient scheduling procedures have been modified to maintain physical distancing requirements so that there is less potential for patient-to-patient contact.

Everyone must adhere to the two-metre distance rule, we have ensured this in our facility.

We have also acquired all the necessary PPE essential in protecting and preventing the spread of COVID-19.

All hand sanitizers follow the Health Canada guidelines with 60-80 percent ethanol and appropriate DIN numbers.  Both practitioners and patients must perform hand hygiene before and after treatment.

Environment cleaning and disinfection is essential to avoid the possible spread of COVID-19. All of our products have a DIN number approved by Health Canada.

Our clinic disinfects all patient contact items between each patient use. Examples are, but not limited to treatment tables, headrests, arm rests, chairs, laser machines, shockwave machines, all therapy equipment, contact surfaces, exercise equipment, therapeutic tools, devices, diagnostic tools, procedural work surfaces, commonly touched areas, light switches, door handles, taps, counter tops, touch screens/mobile devices, keyboards, payment machine, etc.

We have eliminated all books, magazines, literature, brochures and paper sales receipts.  Unfortunately, we can no longer offer you coffee as well.

We will still have our 48-hour cancellation policy in place with leniency toward illness related circumstances. We will not charge anyone for a missed appointment who suddenly comes down with symptoms of an illness or a member of the family that requires immediate attention.

The staff at Meridian Spine + Sport appreciates all our patients and is extremely grateful for your support over the years! Thank you so much and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,

Drs. Keith Tse & Misa Kawasaki
